Mastering the Music Business is the first music business conference in Romania, now at its third edition (March 20-21, 2018 in Bucharest). Our main focus is to offer a framework for independent artists, both up-and-coming and established, to engage in meaningful interactions with key players from various fields in the local and international industry.
Through a series of panels and workshops with more than 50 speakers from Romania and abroad we seek to empower participating artists and their teams by discussing various topics of interest – monetization, music distribution, online marketing, sync placement, indie success stories, festivals, radio airplay, music journalism, good practices and many others.
With this year’s edition, we have a renewed focus on the international market, and we’re organizing the second edition of MMB Live Showcase as an opportunity for up-and-coming local and international acts to develop a presence on the fast-growing Romanian music scene, establishing contacts and performing in front of local and international industry professionals.
We are looking for original music only, no tribute/cover artist/band will be selected.
We have a total of 10 slots open. Selected bands will get to perform a showcase set at one of Bucharest’s top live music venues as part of the conference, as well as 3-day passes for all the panels, presentations, workshops and seminars included in the third edition of the MMB Conference. Although Mastering the Music Business conference is approaching only its third edition, it already registred a few success stories. Basically, as a result of conference participation, some of its delegates could start new collaborations.
Two of the artists that attended the 2017 live showcases received the invitation to perform in contexts generated by their recitals: Byron band was invited to perform at B.U.S.H. – Budapest Showcase Hub and Larisa received her first two concert contracts of her career – both for performances at Street Food Festival.
Byron band performed at Instant, one of the oldest live clubs in Budapest, with other bands from Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Latvia and Slovakia.
You can watch here live video recordings from the concert: https://www.facebook.com/byronmusic/videos/10155347572854545/
The guys recorded the concert from B.U.S.H. in a vlog about a long weekend. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2wpXnCbe4c/
Dan Fintescu, the MC of MMB 2017 edition (and one of its organisers) was discovered by Daniel Somlo, B.U.S.H. representativent in Bucharest, and was invited to moderate two key moments of Budapest’s conference. The first one was a panel with members of a video production agency – Kinopravda – with a multinational team (Spain, Russia, Hungary). The other was an interview with music producer Matt Lawrence, who has a wide artist portfolio: Adele, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Ellie Goulding, Eric Clapton, George Michael, Groove Armada, Keane, Lady Gaga, One Direction, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, The Who, U2.
Last but not least, taking part in MMB Extended (music production workshop organized in Hahaha Production studios) meant for Iuliana Dobre (former contender at Vocea Romaniei – The Voice) the opportunity to sign a contract with the label; currently she is finalising her first musical album.
The third edition of Mastering the Music Business will take place in March 2018, between 20th to 22nd and will consist in two full days of presentations, discussions and showcases and one exclusive workshop day.
You can still benefit of the presale period until the end of 2017. Up to then, the ticket is only 35 euro and can be purchased here.
