George CălinArtist, producer
George Calin was born in Tulcea, on August 20, 1978. He discovered his passion for music when he was 13 and he started writing songs with the help of his guitar, the instrument that he loves most. He loves rock and house music and among his favorite artists are: Bon Jovi, Metallica, Deadmau5 and Axwell.
His debut came in 2001 with a dance project, DEMMO. In 2006 he starts a solo project called Arizona. The same year he meets Doru Todorut and together they start a new band called Deepcentral. First singles signed Deepcentral, “Cry It Away” and “Russian Girl” have entered all radio charts in Romania, establishing George and Doru as “hit makers”.
In January of 2010, George and Doru release their megahit “In Love”, which becomes the most played song of the year in Romania. “In Love” stayed up the charts in Romania and Bulgaria for seven consecutive weeks.
Starting with 2015, George – taking the stage name Manuel Riva – chose the deep tech house way for his productions and also for his DJ activity because it defines him so well.
One of his collaborations called “Close the deal” (with Optick and Eneli), a deep and progressive flavored tune, caught the attention of EDM king Tiesto who just played it during one of his Club Life radio show episodes.
Meanwhile, his smash hit “Mhm, Mhm” topped the national and international radio charts and for several weeks it’s been in the Billboard Dance/Club Chart. All these brought him a well-deserved nomination for Best Romanian Act in the MTV European Music Awards 2016.
