Prior to her work in the NGO world, Oana led the operations of a French logistics company in Romania. She co-founded Dăruiește Viață NGO with her long-time friend, Carmen Uscatu, with whom she had also worked as a volunteer for multiple social initiatives. Their social endeavour started in 2010 with an e-mail message she received from a mother desperately looking to get help for her teenage boy, diagnosed with cancer. Since then she has been working tirelessly to offer better chances to people and children diagnosed with cancer. Meanwhile she is a vocal promoter of social responsibility and the involvement of citizens in the decisions that mark their future.
Since its official beginning in 2012, Dăruiește Viață has changed an unjust law, has offered support to patients when it comes to dealing with Public Authorities, has modernized multiple oncology departments around the country (Brașov, Timișoara, Cluj, București) and has started the biggest social movement in Romania – building the first children’s Hospital, entirely from donations. Currently, more than 300.000 people and over 2.000 companies are part of the #NoiFacemUnSpital initiative.
